Just out of curiosity for the regular punters, do you go for regular checks? Test for any STD etc. I’ve been punting for awhile now and admittedly not very active, maybe 1-2 punts a month if finances allows it about a year ago. But lately maybe 1 every 3 months. I’ve never been for a check and I can’t say I’ve had any symptoms of any diseases other etc. in fact I’ve not been sick since I had Covid in 2021.

Once monthly and I'd suggest going because some STDs don't have symptoms and are transmissible regardless of rubber being used. Not medical advice as that's for your GP, but PrEP and Doxy combo worked well for me for unprotected with girls of unknown status (civilians from apps and clubbing).

Where would you go for a check (in Auckland, North of the bridge preferably)? I don't want to go to my GP, as he knows my family very well.

For anyone seriously asking, Auckand sexual health has clinics all over Auckland (Takapuna for the shore folk). You can do a self check for free every 3 months if you meet certain criteria, otherwise it's $25 or so. Looks like you can walk in too, but I'd give them a call first to check.

I would say every three months is fine if you have no symptoms. STIs are virtually unheard of based on my experience in the industry- most of us care a lot about our health and will be taking steps you don't even realise to avoid transmission. Although if you are, by chance, engaging in any unprotected services (or have experienced condom failure) I would definitely go more often.

You're probably more likely to catch and STI off a random hookup or girl at the club than a sex worker. Although there are some less health concious sex workers out there...

Today I learned that gay and bisexual men (not me) do an anal swab as part of their health/STI test. They have to stick a cotton swab up their arse holes 🤣

You haven’t met the asian touring girls 😆.
Can be hard getting appointments at some of the sexual health clinics.
Walk ins at rapid testing sites like Body Positive near K’Rd are also a good alternative in the interim of getting a proper blood test.

To be fair most the Asian touring girls still care greatly about their health. They just do it in different ways. They are usually all on PrEP and Doxy and who knows what other preventive medications. In contradiction most kiwi working girls rely only on condoms to protect then, even from pregnancy lol.

Last time I used Auckland Sexual Health (a couple of years ago) it was a nightmare trying to get an appointment with a nurse but you could just do a walk in for a self test and be out in five minutes. Not sure what it's like these days but sounds similar.
These days some companies also have self tests you can order in the mail (if you have a safe address to send it to) and post back to them but they're much more pricey.

you can spend a lot of time stressing out about STIs but it's not really worth the hassle. just go for an occassional check when it's nagging in your mind and that should be fine. you don't really want to be at the STI clinic every other week.
if you are rawdogging girls all over the place though i would say go a bit more often lol

Yes, I test regularly. Why not? It only takes 1 fuck to be infected.
It's great for peace of mind.

Auckland has the drop-in centres, they're fine. I am in Hamilton regularly, they have an awesome clinic near the hospital that is free, you can choose the basic pee test, or the more involved blood test, so I usually go there. Less chance of meeting someone I know too!
I've also used the Chch drop-in place, they all kinda do the same thing.
You can order a self-test from the Burdett Foundation too.

If you go for the full monty test, they also swab your peehole and do a visual check, JP.

I’d say its worse trying to get an appointment now days, last time I tried it was a couple days to a week wait or longer any where near the city or north shore. Could only find same day in manukau.
What are the self tests? Swabs and samples to send to the lab?

To be honest it has always been shit trying to get an appointment. For the last 20 years. In the old days anyone could just book an appointment with a doctor/nurse. Then they changed it so you had to have symptoms (unless you were a sex worker). So you have to go to a GP for just a regular checkup. Now it seems they just have the testing kits which are free for certain groups, otherwise you must pay $25. For men you just do the piss test and drop of there and go to Awanui Labs for the blood test.

I’ve never had any symptoms of any STD, however, I had a condom failure once with a girl I visited at The Apartment about 2 years ago. I was humping away with her legs over my shoulder and all of a sudden it felt really wet. She also notices something was wrong and when I pulled out the whole condom has broken of from the roll up at the end. I didn’t panicked and nor did she but she said she will get tested and will notify me if anything was wrong. She messaged me probably about a month after that to say she did a couple of tests and all come negative.
