I have a strict no deposit paying policy. So I will just avoid booking a girl if she requires a deposit. Especially in Auckland there are so many non-deposit requiring girls, it is easy to find an alternative. The only exception is if it is an international touring girl I really want to see.
When an escort requires a deposit, it is an instant red flag for me. Either it is a scam where they just try to get you to deposit money and ghost you. And I have encountered these types before. Or generally, the girl gets so many walking clients that she has to require a deposit. And there is of course a reason why the clients walk.

Scam - particularly as there is so much B&S , you pay a deposit and the WG turns out to be someone quite different, you either walk or end up with someone your not interested in. Good luck getting that back ! Can't see many guys going to the consumer guarantees office for a refund
Disagree with that comment; B&S seems very Asian based who don't generally require deposits and it would be a red flag if they did.
I believe that deposits are primarily NZ/Euro based and are designed to weed out time wasters. ie pay a deposit and it shows good intent. However, there are scammers around so I would only pay a deposit to a well-reviewed SW. Not some random.
Deposits are fine with those you know or can tell are legit and few have discreet options.

I book up to a month in advance at times. Most of the time not much more than other services cancellation fees. All deposits I have paid were for outcalls, 2 - 4 hours and with indies.
Just don’t pay more than you give a shit about losing. I’ve only got bent about one and that was as much my fault as theirs in the end.
Excluding that one probably given up $700 in 6 years 7 cancels with most been at my fault (never last minute). A couple of 3 weeks worth of Ciggies over 6 years fuck it. I waste money every day. The last 2 I paid after I cancelled was the right thing to do.

Scam. Either they want my money or they don't I am just going to go with the other option where i dont need a deposit.
It is hard to maintain anonymity if you pay a deposit as all bank transfers are identified. Prostitution has always been based on non interference of both parties in each others lives and providing bank account name from the client makes the client more vulnerable to a one sided breach of this presumption. Punters are already at risk of being blackmailed with door cameras, hidden cameras etc and providing one’s name doesn’t seem like a great idea when one really doesn’t know whether one can trust the receiver.

I can remember the days of Massage Parlours, when you paid up front for the massage (to the owner) and all the sexy stuff was an extra paid to the girl after the event – the same way we pay at restaurants. You certainly got good service while the bucks were still in your wallet.
I’m not sure why the balance of power has shifted from customer-centric to provider-centric (more like a fast-food ethic). Even what passes for extras these days, a bit of overvalued fluff, is supposed to be settled up front (although I’ve never once been asked to do so, nor would I).
But as for paying a deposit? You’ve got to be fucking joking. I hereby publicly shame anyone who engages in such simpery.

Yeah I have paid a deposit for some of the touring working girls. I think even local girls someone mentioned paying a deposit for a pre booking.
I mean $50 isn't much but I feel like I have made a few bookings which might be enough to convince them that I'm not a punter that is reliable. It does feel like it is a lot less discretion when you you make a deposit.
Re apartment, I think they waive the deposit if you book on the day? But that can be really annoying if you want to book in early to make sure you get the right day and time that suits you.

Deposits are usually relatively small? For me its more the discretion about making a bank transfer.
I will usually only pay a deposit if the girl has been reviewed and looks reliable based on others experiences. That way if anything comea up for either of us, we can reschedule and the depsoit wont go missing.
But I would say deposits rare for a small booking unless you are doing an outcall or over night/or someone is touring.

Likewise deposits are not the norm for me. But you hit the nail on the head CME re the bank transfer. Though for me it is the convenience as opposed to the discretion. Sometimes it is a pain in the arse having to trapse off to the ATM to withdraw cash so a bank transfer is preferred.

Yes originally I found it annoying having to withdraw cash from the ATM. But now it has become a routine and part of life. After a punt I will withdraw some cash and keep the wallet tired up.
I have found a local machine that is very close to where I park my car. So the inconvenience is very low. I had walked passed the ATM hundreds of times without even noticing it.
