I just messaged this girl and somehow she had managed to figure out my actual name and starting in the convo, is there any platform where they can find this information based on a phone number I’m guessing.

If you use your own cellphone and it is with an account, sometimes the name of the account will show up when calling. If it's in your name, then...
Same for texting, other messaging apps.

Or if your number is listed with any other form of business and listed online, it may show up if googled.

You can get them from the supermarket nowadays, any appliance store.
A cheap phone with it's own SIM/number. You load credit onto it, it's expensive to use, but free if you can hook into Wifi and use a messaging app such as wechat or whatsapp

Google account or andriod phone sometimes sends out your name and can even see your profile picture if you have one

When texting if it shows RCS instead of SMS then it will share your name if you allow it to (which is the default setting). Go to Google Account Settings. Change "show your name and picture to" from "people you message" to "only your contacts".

I know of at least 2 providers who've also been caught by this and exposed their real name.

They are a pain tried years ago for work/personal mobile and caused me issues.

I cant be arsed with the whole burner phone/seperate sim for punting. The fake names, hustle and other bullshit around being punter or SWer is tiresome one day it will put me off booking completely.

I work on the premise of if I dont fuck up why would I need another number. I've had my details shared or thretended to once bit of a misunderstanding end of the day it was on me. I would be more likely to quit than get another phone.

It limits available workers but i choose those; with email, Social media with open DM's or those recommended by other SWers. Reduces the risk by contacting first time without giving phone number.
