I would have sworn that this would still have been illegal for a teacher to sex up a former student, until they turned 18 (at least I was taught that it was in health class millions of years ago)... but I'll be damned if I can find any basis for that in the Crimes Act or any other relevant legislation.
But seriously though, while not good, the 'FM' offending situation is not anywhere near as damaging as others. I'm not saying it's awwwwwright, but it just isn't as bad as the opposite scenario or men raping boys.
That said, there are some absolutely fucking sick women out there. And- based on the lack of any further reporting on this when sentencing must have been carried out- this (far more serious) offender likely received less punishment than Miss Adams.

You can’t find it in the Crimes Act because it is not a crime - assuming the student was 16 years old at the material time.
Sure there may be professional or civil sanctions for such conduct, but criminal charges cannot accrue.

In a previous work life working with these ppl they are incurable, incredibly deviant and manipulative, to avoid further offending most of the time it’s based on self regulation, unless sanctioned with extended supervision orders/preventative detention.
Sadly, home detention is used far more often in these cases than it should be. On paper most of the time these ppl have little to no history and often seen as “first time offenders”, “low risk” based on static factors, unless overridden by heavy acute risk issues and a clinical psychologist. It’s probably been more recently that I’ve started to see more appropriate sentences handed down that are more reflective to the level of harm caused to the person and the cost to society (often lifelong rehabilitation for the victims/in many cases loss of quality of life and productivity).
I do agree the lapse of name suppression was a step in the right direction with the societal sanction that occurs with that. Most continue to have name suppression due to the younger age of victims.
There was a teacher in Christchurch another texample of an abuse with power. I don’t think he got criminally charged, however there are some gender biases in sentencing.

To be honest when I was 15-16 I was still a virgin and thought I was going to wait until marriage before I had sex. I was very different to how I am now.
It's easy for all us filthy old degenerates who spend our time writing shit on a forum that reviews sex workers to look at that stuff in a different way. But you have to keep in mind everyone's different and that kind of thing can have a very big negative impact on a boy of 15-16 years old in a number of ways. For starters, perhaps he thought or wanted the relationship to last much longer but instead it ended abruptly which would probably have an emotional impact. There could be bullying from the other kids if they were to find out, usually these things aren't handled very discreetly. The article already said it had an negative impact on him. It could have all been avoided if the teacher was sensible, and perhaps bought herself a new vibrator instead.
