Crypto ATM ban
I'm interested to hear if anyone thinks the Luxon regime's ban on crypto ATMs is going to have any effect on (generally illegal) foreign sex workers? I never used one myself as I didn't see any advantage over other ways to buy crypto to pay for stuff or fund dissident organizations, given you had to do the stupid KYC (photo/ID verification) anyway, and the charges were slightly higher than using an exchange that takes bank transfers.
But talking to some guys who did, I understand they had some advantages that will have had some appeal for those sending money overseas .. namely, that the first time you 'bought crypto' (which means sending money, for all us old fogeys) you (or some random deadshit you paid to help you or someone doing you a favour) would have to do the full photo/ID verification, which I assume only worked for NZers, but for subsequent transactions you could just dump cash in (as long as you didn't put a few grand in at once) and do SMS verification. That could have meant a savings up to 5% or so over the likes of Western Union etc for those making international transfers.
Could Nicole McKee's busted ass cause the $160/hr Chinese lady on a tourist visa to have to raise her prices? SAD
