In a nutshell it was the other way round the Kingdom of Prussia formed the German Empire under Otto von Bismarck. Part of it formed the recreated Polish state after WW1 with the rest of Poland form the former Russian Empire. The Nazis retook the Polish portion in 1939 and lost it again in 1945 to the Red Army . The Soviets took most of East Prussia for themselves with the new communist Poland getting a small portion . The remaining ethic German populations were expelled from the new communist eastern states 2 years later.

Half of the old Prussian Kingdom is still part of the current Federal Republic of Germany
