I was in NYC last year. Wasn't intending on doing any punting but I decided to make a brief visit to a striptease to fill in an hour. before I had to be somewhere. Of course there were plenty of girls there offering lap dances. So I had a couple. That was fun.

One who gave me a one song lap-dance then offered a one hour lap-dance. 800 USD.
WTF? Ok, .clearly this wouldn't be just a 1 hour dance and there was no way I was gonna pay that much! Hell no! Not even for sex! But I was curious. I said, "what do I get for one hour?
She wouldn't tell me anything. Said she couldn't and would discuss it if I agreed.
Still no, fucking way am I going to make a deal like that unless I know what I'm getting for my money. But at this stage I'm thinking to myself. Ok, it's illegal here so she can't discuss anything. But I try to wangle a few details out of her anyway saying I'm not gonna agree unless I know more about what I'm gonna get for my 800 USD.
But no dice. "Sorry I can't talk to you anymore about it." But she stays there, hoping I'll say yes, anyway.
But damn, I just can't let this one slide. I wanna know more how this works here in the Big Apple. Clearly the cops know these girls are selling sex but they obviously turn a blind eye as long as they follow certain rules.
So I decide I'm gonna leave but can't resist talking to the bouncer for a bit to see if I can wangle some information out of him. Friendly guy. Happy to talk, but he's keeping his lip tight too about that 1 hour deal. So I pretty much tell him what I'm pretty sure is going on and he kinds of smiles at me knowingly.
So yeah, just what I thought. Ok, satisfied, I leave. :LOL:

Funny it's still not legal there when they're selling pot in corner stores.

Anyone else got some New York punting stories? Or in other places where it's still illegal?
 
It's of course very common in the strip clubs over there, most of them do sexual services in the back rooms. But its illegal and they have some weird technicalities in regards to the law. If you actually agreed I assume she would feel comfortable enough you weren't a cop and would talk to you about what is involved. Of course you are stuck in a position that you don't want to spend that much so were never going to find out lol. The street hookers sometimes do weird shit as well like get you to flash them your dick before discussing anything, as then they know you are not a cop.

Its illegal to sell sexual services in the state of New York and those who do tight lipped about it they might think you are wearing a wire or an undercover cop.

But it is legal in the State of Nevada, I had a mate who was on holiday in Las Vegas years ago who told me about people on the Las Vegas strip handing him flyers left and right for different brothels to advertise their services. He inquired about the rates and they are super expensive and we were Uni students back then and too broke to punt lol

Punting in US happens all the time, of course, but as a tourist or traveller I'd say avoid it, it's bloody risky.
But my tip as a traveller: If you have the urge and need some company or a plain ol' fuck :D talk to your hotel porter (or whatever you call them), or your uber driver, taxi driver. They usually know stuff and $10 or whatever can be pretty helpful. Also have a trawl of different forums, there's always info out there.

Very true. I was in Las Vegas a couple of years ago and was approached by this guy when I was walking down the strip offering porn star services. He showed me 3 or 4 who were in town at the time and he would organise everything. Said it would cost me $5K for an hr or $7K for a couple of hrs. He would bring the girl to the hotel and everything. I definitely recognized the girls but can't remember the names now. Anyway I was seriously tempted but was too nervous about getting into trouble .....and it wasn't cheap either. So managed with great difficulty to resist the temptation 😄

This anecdote reinforces my belief that we're so lucky to have the decrim model for sex work in NZ. I actually believe the sex industry in America thrives on the illegality of sex work because it encourages dishonesty. The stripper implied that $800 would mean sex for the punter, but she didn't explicitly say it and it's quite likely that it could well mean simply a lap dance for an hour. If the punter was to then protest that he should have expected more than that for that amount of money, he could then get kicked out for attempt to procure sex.

This sort of scamming has even occurred in the brothels of Nevada, apparently. Matthew Perry wrote in his autobigraphy about how he and three of his mates went to Las Vegas in the early 90s (before he was a mega-star who could have any woman he wanted) where he won $2800 at a casino and wanted to celebrate with his pals (as you do in Vegas). A cab driver took them to a brothel out in the desert where he was told to pay $1000 to enter. He had thought that huge amount of money would have been sufficient to pay for a lady for each of them, but all they got was champagne (and that was despite Matthew paying $1600, thinking the extra money would seal the deal). He then had to pay another $300 for him and each of his mates to see individual ladies, but even after paying nearly $3000, all they got was a striptease in a boxed room. So Perry blew all his winnings and he didn't get laid.

Moral of the story: Never go to the States for the purpose of paying for sex. It's just too expensive and too risky.

This kind of shit still goes on in Nevada. Just one visit to a brothel, or hiring an escort, will leave you very much poorer and homesick for the unbelievably inexpensive and wonderful experiences you have at your fingertips in NZ. You’ll never complain again.

I learned this lesson long ago and now always opt for a Kiwi takeout when travelling.

As I’ve alluded to, I prefer to bring someone with me from NZ. And I don’t watch much porn so I’m not up with the latest porn stars. Know 3 ladies who have worked in the States .
