Ah man. Now there's a true classic! I spent hours on that one over a period of a couple of days, regularly getting stuck and infuriated but just couldn't stop playing until I got to the end. I remember needing to purchase condoms from a shop and it took me hours of trial and error before I finally found an ad for "prophelactics" on the side of one of the shelves in the shop. And then it was plain saliing to the end from there.

Played it through about 3 times. Third time I became so powerful that I could destroy Jecht in I think it was a couple of bites from Anima.

Suikoden 2 is one of my all time favourite RPGs but didn't make my top 5
Suikoden 2 has nostalgic value for me because my cousins rented it from a video store and they were playing it when I visited their grandparents house. I was immediately hooked and played it multiple times. I generally play an rpg game without looking much up first time around so I was shocked when I got the bad ending. Felt much better second time around achieving all the goals and recruiting all characters. It also reminds me of the R18 sections they had in the video rental stores, when I was young and naive I always wondered what was hidden in that area.
