Sometimes free speech too much?

I don't read this post as suggesting the removal of free speech here at all? We know over censorship is one of the reasons AF has completely flopped. This just reads as reminder to think about what we post.

For every joke made at a workers expense (the taste of said jokes is often questionable, but that's a different convo), or every time workers are spoken of in a dehumanizing way, there is gonna be some impressionable reader that takes that attitude at face value. It's a very quick slide into really bad attitudes. If a client doesn't view us as anything more than an object, or that we are inherently beneath him, or that all women are X, Y and Z, that absolutely comes out in how they treat us in the room 🥲

Also the phenomenon of clients using "I'm a reviewer and if you don't do what I say I'll leave you a bad review" has existed as long as reviewboards have. This isn't a problem because of SF or AF in particular, those dudes are just wankers. If review sites didn't exist those guys would still be around just using other tactics.

Also I know this site is primarily for clients. It's the boys club and I'm just a visitor in these lands. I just want to clarify that I'm not telling you what to say on here either. Free speech til your hearts content. I'm just pointing out that things said on a busy public forum can and do have real world consequences, usually to the detriment of my community.

Just imagine the dumbest, meanest fella you possibly can. Doesn't understand sarcasm, jokes, tone of language. Now assume that he's probably reading everything on here. Not a fun future booking for my colleagues and I to say the least.

Some have pointed out this post won't change anything. You're probably right, but it was at nice to see this attitude shared publicly. Saying the kind thing or suggesting others choose to do the same is never popular in a public forum like this, so I do appreciate it. It's not even a case of saying the kind thing actually, it's just choosing to not say the really vile thing lmao.

Bad feedback or complaints can be said in a way that's both honest and respectful! There's also no value in making mean remarks about a sex workers appearance under a positive review just because you aren't attracted fo her! I dream of the day where a BBW can be reviewed positively without someone chiming in to say how disgusting they think she is. Ok? Don't book her then babes.

I agree, where is his personal responsibility?
However that is tangential to what I am saying.
And I have already said that I don't think comments here are solely responsible, that would be a stretch.
However, I do think that some of the stuff here does have the potential for normalising behaviors in some people.
And that should be considered before you make a comment.
Again, I don't think that is an unreasonable thought to have.

I am glad you pointed out the 'finger' comments (multiple) as being a problem, and for the reason you mentioned.

The Malibu incident, as she tells it, is appalling, but it didn’t happen here. His “speech” occurred in a booking and was always likely to be a bullshit threat anyway IMO. Her ability to freely speak and get ahead of it shows a strength of this platform, not a weakness. A spiteful review, if it ever came, would only identify the culprit and tend to confirm Malibu’s account.

There is no free speech on this forum as everyone must abide by the Ts and Cs (which happen to be more liberal than AF's Ts and Cs). Free speech protects you from the government censoring you and does not apply in any other context.

The admin recently emphasised that being respectful is important when using the site. If you see something dehumanizing or otherwise disrespectful, hit the report button.

Problem solved.

She made specific mention that he said he found out about her through here.
And he threatened a bad review if he didn't geat his way.
So I think this place, while not culpable for his behavior, is not totally free and clear.
Hence why I keep saying that maybe people making comments here should consider what they are about to say.

I think there needs to be a banner on the top of the forum that says take anything anyone says on this forum with a grain of salt Punters and SWs.

We all know humans are not honest all the time

Malbus situation sounds real though and I can see why she posted on here maybe false fears of her reputation getting belittled

By this logic, if he found her ad on NZG, NZG, while not being culpable, would not be "totally free and clear"?

There are a tonne of assumptions here, basically the scenario is that he was a good, respectful man, who stumbled upon SF, read some comments, found an ad, and on the basis of all of that, decided to assault and blackmail a SW.

Occam's razor suggests that he was already a piece of shit.

You agreed with Ivy's post?
You did, because I see that you gave it a like.
Well that's what I have been saying, just more eloquently put.
Therefore since you like what she said, we agree in principle too.
You can twist yourself into pretzels beyond that point, but it all leads back to the same thing.

Yeah I agree with you on this.

Assuming you have firsthand experience visiting someone there is no value in trashing them based on their looks or other factors they have no control over. I generally apply my restaurant analogy here...if I didn't enjoy the meal or the experience I just don't go back. But I can't be bothered going online to trash the place.
