I definitely understand the concern and agree that the footage shouldn’t be viewed by anyone other than is necessary, however I haven’t heard of any cases in NZ (especially in recent years and since prostitution was legalised) where footage of a punter entering or leaving a brothel has been used to harm someone’s reputation so I would assume the chances of the footage being used in such a way is extremely unlikely. If you do know of any cases relating to this I’d love the link to read about them as I like to stay knowledgeable on cases relating to sex work.

Im guessing it’s really only footage of people entering and leaving.. or possibly a camera in the hallway. Most have no signage anyway so it would just be people walking in and out of a door…. could be any door

In my experience that’s absolutely correct. I’d also take into consideration the fact that most working girls don’t show their face on their adverts so they would be just as motivated as the punters to ensure that the footage wasn’t being seen unnecessarily in order to protect their privacy

Perhaps I've misunderstood, so please correct me if I'm wrong, but the above seems to suggest that because we're not yet aware of any documented cases of harm having been caused, that no-one has to worry about such footage potentially causing harm in the future.

You can choose to worry about anything and everything in life. I’m suggesting that the risk of the above happening - considering the fact that most working girls don’t show their face on their adverts so they would be just as motivated as the punters to ensure that the footage wasn’t being seen unnecessarily - and additionally the fact that there doesn’t seem to be any documentation of cases, news articles (which realistically if someone wanted to extort a punter using footage of them entering a brothel it would most likely involve a well known public figure so there would be news articles about it) nor has any punter on here mentioned knowing of this scenario actually playing out (which again, I would assume if this was a risk worth worrying about at least one member of this forum would have a story regarding this happening to them or someone they know), that this is comparatively a low enough risk that it doesn’t seem to warrant worrying about much. You can never say never, but in terms of statistics I would say the chances of this happening is extremely unlikely.

Absolutely right. You can't compare security cameras protecting the girls, to guys secretly filming them to either share with others, put on Pornhub, or wank over late at night. That's not comparing apples with apples.

Anyone who sees them as similar things can't be very bright.

As for those security cameras even if they were filming me taking a shower or getting it on with one of the girls, the girls there are more than welcome to view my magnificent body later with vibrators in hands if they want to. I'll even give them the thumbs up while being filmed.
