Not casting judgment on whether he is guilty or innocent of any crime, but I am so happy that I did not go through with investing in him thinking that he is the next Mike Adriano of the non existent NZ porn industry. I was seriously considering it for a very short while.

Sad if NZDan has done something like that. There will probably be legal consequences if he has done so. However you have to take some salt with the absolute shit that gets spewed on Reddit.

Speaking as someone who's been hassled by the cops over political activism (although they've always been very polite and lenient about non-political actual crimes), it's infuriating that the cops haven't fitted Dan up yet.
We know Dan was rawdogging most of these chicks, he recorded himself doing it. We know he was paying them. We know that that is illegal under the Prostitution Reform Act.
NZ doesn't have any real protection of freedom of speech, like the US does, that can be abused to pretend that filmed pornography is just 'freedom of speech', 'artistic expression', that must be treated differently from other commercial sex.
All it would take would be one cop with a bit of nous to know that nailing this saffa twat would get him or her great media coverage, to reach out to one of the girls and get her to make a statement to police saying that Dan told her that it was 100% legal for him to pay them to let him nut in them, and that she was just too naive (well, yes) to understand that it was illegal. There's not a chance in hell that the girls would be prosecuted, experienced sex workers haven't been in cases where they were gradually convinced by a regular to hit it raw (in full knowledge that that was illegal).
The fine's only $2000 per case, but it would give him a criminal conviction that would be required to be disclosed on entry to oh, let's say Colombia. I'm sure that wouldn't impact on his lifestyle at all.

There are a lot of assumptions in there.
If they are correct, the police would be looking for far more than a $2k fine and a conviction under the PRA. It's more complicated than that but we will see what happens.

The saffa cunt lying about not publishing vids with faces publicly, something that definitely won't be written down on whatever 'model releases' he might have used, isn't rape. As the recent case confirmed, that kind of thing is just fraud. Fraud that would be established solely on the word of the female party, so, much too risky to make a prosecution based on that, and they wouldn't bother unless they could get several of the girls he duped together.
A PRA conviction would be a slam dunk if they could get even one cooperating filmee, and if the pigs actually cared about taking shitbags off the streets, they'd start with a charge on that, and use that to get more attention from others to get a really nasty fraud case going to maybe put him away for a year or two.

I am not talking about rape (another assumption on your part). There are specific provisions for sharing digital communications (including intimate visual recordings). Likely not applicable but they would be looking at that if there is a complaint.

It's not prostitution if it's being filmed, especially in NZDan's case in which he clearly has a career as a pornographer. So it's not illegal for him to have ******* sex with them and cum inside them. And in some of his videos he does wear a condom, but most viewers don't want to see condom sex in porn. Overseas some punters get around prostitution laws by "filming porn" even though they are really just doing it to have sex with the woman and have no intent on distributing the film many times.
Surely NZDan is requiring them to sign concent forms and prove they are over 18. He would have been charged years ago if he wasn't. If the Reddit story is true then it is possible she signed consent forms and he broke the agreement where he did not obscure her face. Or perhaps she was misled and actually signed up to it and didn't realise it. Who knows maybe she knew full well what she was doing and concented to it all but changed her mind later and regrets it and feels exploited and regrets the fact her friends and family have seen it. All we can do is speculate really about this anonymous story posted on Reddit. With NZDan's high profile he would be in jail ages ago if he was doing anything illegal, ethics aside.
Sure, that is generally true in the US. On a re-read of the Prostitution Reform Act, it refers to:
"commercial sexual services means sexual services that—
(a) involve physical participation by a person in sexual acts with, and for the gratification of, another person; and
(b) are provided for payment or other reward (irrespective of whether the reward is given to the person providing the services or another person)"
Is (a) fulfilled if there's a producer paying an actor and actress? Probably not. Or, I suppose if you're the world's gayest man and part of the film shows you having to give yourself dick injections to get hard while you're going round fucking chicks, you could claim that the payments you made to them were not "for the gratification of" yourself. If it's amateur porn, there's very clearly some sexual acts with and for gratification involved. If it isn't you fucking your missus, but you fucking some random chick from South Auckland for cash, then (b) is fulfilled.The standard porn producer game- have some vaguely worded model release forms that have enough legal wording that you can distribute the images/video recorded however you like, but say in person whatever bullshit you need to say about "yeah it's only going to be shown to rap producers" or "it would be illegal for our customers to redistribute porn they paid for (true) so you don't have to worry about that (false)" to get them to sign it- without adding that in writing to anything that gets signed of course.
