Regarding the latest news in the Jeffrey Epstein saga, it's becoming farcical how many people (almost all men) knew him and stayed in touch with him after he was convicted, and of course they are now having to either deny, downplay or justify their decisions while condemning the man himself. The recurring theme is hardly new of course - old men discussing or engaging in sex with young women or girls has been exposed many times in the media in the past. In fact, it has become a cliche: Old men = predators, young women/girls = victims.

Here's what I've been thinking. The victims in this sordid saga would have less likely been victims if they were older women (ie. in their 30s, 40s or even 50s). Adults with plenty of life experience would have been better informed about what they were getting involved in, if they had been recruited by Epstein and his associates. They might well have consented to having sex (albeit getting paid to have sex) with men closer to their ages. But of course pretty much all the victims were teenagers and the vast majority of them were underage girls, and all these celebrities who queried Epstein about meeting them would have known that. It also raises an uncomfortable truth: If you guys reading this were rich and powerful and ever met Epstein, not knowing what he really got up to, and he offered girls for hire (regardless of whether you knew their age), would you have accepted the offer? Being a punter myself, I might have fallen into his trap if I was in that position of wealth and status. The reality is that us males are biologically driven to chase women of that prime age of 18-25 and it doesn't change as we get older (Leonardo di Caprio being a case in point).

I'm in my 40s and I want to stop punting, but the truth is it's very hard to stop checking out profiles of young attractive women on NZ Girls. If I go to a dating website, more than 90% of the women around my age just don't give me the motivation to want to initiate a conversation (assuming they would even engage, knowing the strike rate on those sites) and I have seen a lot of profiles of women in their 20s and early 30s whose cut-off age is 40. And while 'cougars' do indeed exist, I would safely assume that they are the exception to the rule that women of all demographics generally prefer men who are slightly older than them, hence why you almost never hear of 40-something women chasing teenage boys for sex.

Why does nature not make us guys feel less attracted to young women and more attracted to older women as we age? Can anything be done about it?
 
You've missed the point that in the case of Epstein and his clients (and people like them) it isn't really about the sex, it is about power.
The power to do whatever you want, and nobody will tell, and even if they do, nothing bad will happen to you any way.
And this is being shown to be true at this very moment.
Out of everyone who has been implicated in this scandal (which stretches back more than a decade at this point) exactly two people have actually paid any real price, Jeffery Epstein and Andrew Mountbatten Windsor.
Maybe a third to a degree, if what Bill Gate's ex-wife says is true and that his continued contact with Epstein was one of the reasons that she seeked a divorce.
Everyone else closed ranks and probably used their power, influence and/or money to manipulate the situation quietly behind the scenes to ensure that investigations are shut down, witnesses 'go away', or out and out lies are told by public figures to even deny that any of the information exists.
The Epstein scandal is just proof positive of something that many of us already had a feeling that we knew.
That is that the rich and powerful think that they are better than the rest of us, and will go to any extreme to prove it (both in committing heinous acts, and ensuring that they face no consequences).
Essentially those people want to regress us to a feudal system where we are all the serfs (which at the moment we are all pretty close to being) with very little in the way of free will, and them the lords and masters (which they've pretty much positioned themselves to be) who don't even have to answer to the likes of us for anything, ever.

That's my thoughts anyway.

Money is at the centre of it all. The men who have the money. Then the young women who want the money. Then there are the lawyers with clients who are trying to monetize the situation. Venture to suggest if Andrew was Joe Bloggs his adventures would never have seen daylight. Then there are others who seem to have escaped any scrutiny at all like the Tangerine Taco. Money trail will keep it going for a long time yet.
Where were the parents???

There are plenty of people who earn $20 or $30 above the median wage, or own a small landscaping company or a coffee shop, and already consider themselves superior... imagine at the level of billionaires, who have already had enough of everything that money could (legally) provide.

It's not about sex... billionaires can fuck with countless women of all ages without major complications.

I think what has to date been portrayed as trafficking of minors for sex - bad as that is - is going to be revealed as far far more hideous than that alone; depravity far more sinister than is perceived I suspect.

To this point the focus has been on Trump. Republican lawmakers have been running interference for him, at least. And so they drip feed documents that implicate and place the spotlight on others.

European lawmakers are having none of that nonsense and will I believe relentlessly pursue people who are implicated. At that point Trump's house of cards will I suspect collapse taking his little cabal of insane criminals with him.

There is quite a bit more to run yet on this thing and it will be ... hideous.

As to the reason why men might prefer to have sex with younger not older women? (and I am talking about consenting adults, not minors).

That is easy if you strip away the veneer of polite society; it is biology and evolution. The species has to continue and something in our old brain makes us pursue those who can bear offspring. Attractiveness is a proxy for fertility.

But - and hear me out- women (again I'm talking consenting adults) may be just as likely to select for older men because with age (generally) comes status, power, and resources which makes them ideal "providers" for offspring and to bat away rivals.

Your new brain might say that is nonsense. Your old brain will take you down that path without you even being aware of it.
 
I agree that billionaires could fuck anyone they wanted, but I would have thought not all of these guys who hung around on Epstein's island would deliberately abuse teenage girls. While there's no doubt Epstein, Trump and Andrew were the real monsters, I could give the likes of Bill Gates and Noam Chomsky the benefit of the doubt and assume they chose to visit the island believing Epstein when he told them they were getting women in their early 20s but who were actually underage girls (as we know some teenagers can look mature for their age), and were willing participants. That's why I figured as randy old buggers they were simply guilty of having the same carnal desires that any of us would have when given an opportunity to fulfil them. I would like to hope that for the majority of these guys whose names have been tarnished forever, the motivation was purely sexual and not due to the sick, depraved abuse of power we know Epstein and Maxwell were guilty of.

Surely that excuse, such as it is, only lasts until the plane touches down and they step foot through Epstein's door?
Even if the girls in question were 30 they would still have taken advantage, these guys are more interested in the power imbalance and what that means for what they can do and get away with.
We really need to start thinking of the way these 1%er dickholes approached this situation not from the perspective of sexual attraction, but as rapists.
Rape is not about sex, it is about power.
I contend that all these guys that actually went there and did things, or just witnessed some questionable stuff were way more interested in the power of being able to lord it over the poors.
If they just wanted to pick up young chicks, they could've gone to the night club, or indeed just booked a sex worker.
But they didn't.
They went to exclusive places, where the girls saying no was really not possible.
Because they wanted to remove all possible agency from these girls, and the reason that they wanted to do it was as proof to themselves about just how far their influence could carry them

Those years in a woman are their most fertile which is probably why we find them so attractive.
But hey man don't compare us to Epstein!
Epstein trafficked women including children.
As long as you go to a respected agency or independent escort, you can rest your conscience knowing that she isn't being pimped
or coerced to give sex!
Someone mentioned power being an attractive quality that Epstein clients pursued.
Hey I love power as well! I love to tie up a girl and dominate her but that doesn't mean
I would go to a creep like Epstein for a sex worker!
I go to reputable people and deal with willing women who are into that sort of kinky stuff.
 
This thread is hilarious to me. Women in their prime, “18-25”. You mean when their brains and bodies have finished developing…
 
They reckon the brain hasn’t finished until 30 now.

Biologically we are primed to hit people or run when someone makes us feel some big emotion… however the majority of us have managed to override that urge… what we feed our minds is powerful, if we bombard ourselves with images that sexually objectify specific age groups, conversations and narratives that only support younger females are attractive and dismiss any other age group being attractive or sexually gratifying and become detached from emotional identity with our own age or older then it’s going to be difficult to see anything other than a specific age as attractive.

If you think about Child S/O, the amount of “brain gym” they do to override societal norms, legal consequences, morals and shame and then create victim access is pretty mind blowing the lengths these incurable scum will go too. All because they mentally developed a physiological and psychological sexual/mental attraction to underage children.

The most uncomfortable truth is the sexual assault statistics of this country do not get the same recognition as that of a celebrity offending sex scandal.
